Romans 12:1 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. This offering in light of the mercies or compassions of God is their reasonable service. Reasonable translates logikēn. The concept conveyed is that the service grows out of the rational part of man and is logical in light of what God has done in the expression of his compassions or mercies. Logikos means “rational, spiritual” (AG 477). There is an implied contrast drawn between this rational service and the offering of an irrational animal. The body offered is part and parcel of the rational being who is offering it as consecrated and dedicated to God (cf. 1 Pet. 2:5). - Truth Commentary on Romans, PP 725, 726. 1 Peter 2:5 - ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
