On the backrest of the throne is a picture of Pharaoh Tutankhamun … …and his wife, Ankhesanamun. The way they appear to be looking into each others eyes is proof of their love for one another.

The Annex This room held many household items like furniture, fans, pottery jars filled with wine, papyrus baskets of fruit, senet games and many ushabti. The messiness was caused by tomb robbers.

East Wall…. The funeral procession is led by 12 mourners beginning the pharaoh’s transition to his new life.

North Wall... These three scenes show Tut as he makes his way to the Afterlife. The yellow background represents the “house of gold” or eternity. The black line along the top represents heaven.

The first (right section) scene shows the high priest, Ay performing the Opening of the Mouth Ceremony during Tutankhamun’s funeral. The next section show’s the goddess Nut welcoming the pharaoh to the Afterlife. The green necklace represents resurrection.

The third scene shows Osiris welcoming Tutankhamun and his spiritual double or his spirit, the ka.

West Wall…The 12 baboons represent the 12 hours of night and the god, Thoth. The pharaoh’s challenge was to speak to each of the baboons by name and meet a challenge in order to pass to the next level. When he reached Khepri, the god of rebirth, the boat would transport him to the Afterlife and the goddesses are there to lead him safely.

South Wall… Anubis places his hand on the pharaoh’s shoulder showing protection and welcome to Tutankhamun. As the goddess of the West, Hathor touches the ankh to his mouth giving him the breath of life. The section to the left of Anubis was broken by Carter when he broke through the wall. This showed Isis bringing the pharaoh water to drink after this long journey.

Anubis, god of mummification and Hathor, goddess of the West are acting as protection.

The goddess Selket is one of the four goddesses protecting the pharaoh’s canoptic jars, which held his liver, Intestines, stomach and lungs.
