Shown left to right, Eugenia, Olga, Artiom, and Larisa. As you see they stayed really busy attending classes at the dental school with our dental students, joining fellow local dentists at Continuing education seminars, had meetings with many faculty of UNC of all different specialities, got to shadow in our clinics, and even visit private practices in our community.

Arrival to the USA! Beth:

Welcomed by all of the past and present dentists and students involved with the Moldova trip Sarah: Each year we welcome the Moldovan students and faculty with a big welcome dinner. We invite both past and present students and doctors involved with the trip and get to meet the new students. This provides an opportunity for the new students to get to know the Moldovan students that they will be working with in the following, corresponding spring.

Touring the school and attending CE courses Beth:

Met many faculty and students at UNC Dr. Ken May, Interim Dean Oral Maxillofacial Pathology Sarah: They got to meet students and faculty in each speciality. Olga and Artiom loved exploring prosthodontics, Eugenia loved Periodontics and Larisa’s favorite was Oral Surgery- something she is thinking of pursuing after dental school. Even joined our 3rd year dental students in the Cadaver lab (not pictured) while they learned to suture. Periodontology with Dr. Mackler

Visited with the local private practices Beth Dr. Cheryl Siegel Dr. Nazir Ahmad

Cultural Activities UNC Football NCSU NC History Museum Hiking Bowling NC State Fair Hiking Bowling Sarah: They were even able to squeeze in a little fun in between the dental experiences. They really enjoyed the NC State Fair (a must see in NC when visiting in October), the NC Museum of History and NC Museum of Art, Bowling and Hiking. Probably their most favorite was attending the UNC football game. It was a rainy day with the after effects of Hurricane Matthew but they were so excited to be close to the action and experience such an American tradition. Museum of Art
