Objectives, The students will: Obey the Lab Safety rules handling tools and equipment, Apply the Copyright laws, using their original Ideas and drawings, Use the Elements and Principles of Design, Applying traditional drawing skills to graphic solutions and develop a process or sketchbook that carries visual solutions from hand drawn thumbnails to final production.

Standards for Relief Printing Standard: Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry. The following elements should be integrated throughout the content of this course. 1.1 Communicate effectively through writing, speaking, listening, reading, and interpersonal abilities. Person-to-Person Etiquette,Interacting with Your Boss, Interacting with Co-workers.

AAVTC-AGOP-7 Practice customer service skills; as well as, follow ethical guidelines and copyright laws. 7.4 Demonstrate following ethical guidelines and copyright laws, such as but not limited to Intellectual Property, Creative Commons, Work for Hire, Fair Use, etc.

AAVTC-AGOP-13 Demonstrate the ability to use an output process to create a quality product. 13.1 Utilize appropriate software and/or equipment necessary to produce final project. 13.2 Select appropriate substrate(s) and ink(s) to produce a quality project. 13.3 Interpret and formulate correct liquid measurements for various chemical needs in production processes. 13.4 Position images on substrates using appropriate measurements.

Strategies Students will watch a short video clip of the processes of the design. We will discuss the tools and safety of the processes. Students will meet in groups to brainstorm and design the relief design in thumbnail form. Teacher monitors all students in teams. Teacher has supplies and tools ready on Thursday to begin the cutting of linoleum.

Differentiation Students work on the tables in groups to Visualize their ideas in thumbnails – Visual Learners. Students will have kinesthetic focus on the carving of the linoleum, printing and learning the technique of Embossing. Vocabulary of the printing processes lends connections and importance to the processes and understanding them – Linguistic learners.

Assessments Formative: 1.) 2 classroom assessments will be given as students work during the week. 2. Process of designing and transferring design properly 3. Carving 4. Printing Summative: 1. Vocabulary and Process Test 2. Project Final grade
