The Medical University of Lublin Welcome everyone. My name is Hanna Trębacz, I am the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Postgraduate education and the Institutional Erasmus Coordinator. This is Ewa Abramek, the Chancellor of the Medical University of Lublin. We are glad that we are meeting today at your institution. We prepared a short presentation about the Medical University of Lublin.

The Medical University of Lublin 4 FACULTIES 15 PROGRAMS, POSTGRADUATE STUDIES IN MEDICAL SPECIALTIES AND RELATED FIELDS, SPECIALTY COURSES AND TRAININGS OVER 7,000 STUDENTS OVER 1,000 FOREIGNERS FROM 59 COUNTRIES OVER 2,000 WORKERS The Medical University has 4 faculties which, altogether, offer 15 programmes. As I mentioned before, we educate more than 7 thousand students, of which 1 thousand are foreigners from 59 countries all over the world.

Educactional offer The Medical University of Lublin offers 15 programmes: Medical laboratory analysis Dietetics Electroradiology Pharmacy Physiotherapy Cosmetology Medicine Dentistry Nursing Obstetrics Emergency medicine Dentist's techniques Public health Biomedicine Dental hygiene The University offers 15 programmes which are visible on the slide. We provide bachelor, master, and doctoral studies. There is also a possibility to enroll on postgraduate studies in medical sciences and related fields. The University provides first, second and third (doctoral) degree studies. The programs of study are held on a full- and part-time basis. Postgraduate studies in medical sciences and related fields are also available.

Doctoral Studies The Medical University of Lublin offers doctoral studies in Polish and English in the range of scientific disciplines: medicine (English/Polish) dentistry (English/Polish) medical biology (English/Polish pharmacy (Polish) health sciences (Polish)

DOCTORAL STUDIES Doctoral studies are financed from the state budget and their purpose is to prepare for future scientific work and the future work as the academic teacher. Doctoral studies end with the defense of the dissertation which allows to obtain a PhD degree.

DOCTORAL STUDIES RECRUITMENT is carried out separately at each of the disciplines in accordance with the possiblities of the faculties recruitment in the last 2 years for the studies in Polish language: 2016/2017 - 71 people; 2015/2016 - 57 people; *the number of applicants exceeds the limits of admission by 30% currently UM educate 336 PhD students.

The main conditions of the recruitment: evaluation of the candidate, his scientific achievements (e.g. grade point average (GPA) from studies, academic achievements) and the qualification examination; evaluation of scientific project.

There is a seprate recruitment path for candidates pursuing research projects in the framework of grants which are financed externally by: National Science Centre, National Centre for Research and Development.

International scientific projects Realization of scientific projects gives a possibility to make contact with the best scientist in the world. It is the occasion to learn new facts and talk about good practices in the fields of: scientific projects management, team building or technology transfer. It is a chance to implement innovative solutions and results of research., as well as prestige and recognition in the international arena. An additional factor promoting our input in international projects are initiatives of the Ministry of Science aiming to create system of active support for polish scientists for e.g. program “Pact for Horizon.

Doctoral studies last 4 years Doctoral studies last 4 years. Their goal is to get professional, teaching and scientific competences. during the first and second year graduate students gain knowledge of research methodology, teaching and basic subjects in a given discipline as also organization of the scientific research;

during the third year of studies doctoral students deepen their knowledge in a chosen scientific discipline, conduct research and achieve competences to embark on a doctorate; the fourth year of studies is intended to complete the research and describe its results in a form of a doctoral dissertation under the guidance of the supervisor;

In the course of doctoral studies every year doctoral students improve their skills as an academic teachers mandatory conducting classes with students in a number of up to 90 hours per year (in practice it depends on the needs of the scientific units).
