OUTLINE Purpose of SSGs capacity building for institutional development Needs Assessment & Capacity Building Strategy Process of SSG capacity building provided by Abt/HPI Legal registration handbook

Purpose of SSGs program To develop SSGs’ capacity so that they may emerge as effective advocates and service providers and obtain formal recognition and legal registration: To increase institutional capacity To support in legal registration

From need assessment Recommendations Key Findings and Lack of group management skill and skills for group “survival” Provide trainings at need and objective- oriented Lack of follow-up on application of the trained skills Provide post- training supervision and on site coaching Lack of information and guidance for Legal registration Develop Legal registration handbook Overlapped training program at provincial level Coordinate among stakeholders

Initial training: 32 SSGs Legal registration Group mission and vision, organizational strategic plan Organizational branding, Event/PR organization, Advocacy Organization governance with human resource management Level 3 (Advanced) 5 SSGs 3 trainings Project management (advanced) with financial management Proposal writing (advanced) with resource mobilization Project management (basic) Level 2 (Intermediate) 15 SSGs Mentoring and On-site Coaching Small grants + legal registration handbook 1 initial training, on-site support & 1 secondary training Proposal writing (basic) Group Mission statement, meeting facilitation skill Group work plan, group operational procedures Level 1 (Basic) Secondary training: 20 SSGs Initial training: 32 SSGs Level 1: Sept 09–Jun 10 Level 2: Jul 10 - Jun11 Level 3: Jul 11 - Sep12: apart from 4 provided training, SSGs can be sent to participate other training such as vocational training, microfinance, business start up…provided by different organizations Enabling environment and political support SSG CAPACITY BUILDING FOR INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
