Nizhnevartovsk

Nizhnevartovsk - City in Russia, the administrative center of Nizhnevartovsk region of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region, the second largest city of the district, one of the few Russian regional cities that exceed the administrative center of his subjects both in terms of population and industrial potential. In 2010, the city took the 14th place in the Forbes list for the comfort of business. And in 2011, took 4th place in Russia, on the comfort of life, leaving Surgut, Tyumen and Krasnodar behind. It is one of the five richest cities in Russia, after St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.

Geography The city is laid out on a grid system; however, due to its location on the bank of the river, there is a central kink in the grid which parallels the river's course. Climate Each winter, temperatures can drop to −50 °C (−58 °F), and the local residents build a number of ice parks with snow and ice sculptures and play areas for children, mostly comprising images of Father frost (Russian Santa), and ice slides. In summer, temperature climbs to+35 °C (35 °F).

History It was founded in 1909; its development into a large city was boosted in the 196s by the discovery of the Samotlor Oil Field, the largest in the country. Town status was granted to it on March 9, 1972.

Economy Nizhnevartovsk is the center of the West Siberian oil-producing region and one of the wealthiest cities in the country. The Nizhnevartovsk Airport is the fifteenth busiest airport in Russia, well ahead of those in many larger cities. In the city there are branches of major Russian and foreign commercial banks. One of the oldest banks in the city of Nizhnevartovsk is a bank Ermak. It was created in 1992. President is- Tatiana Semenova.

Industry. There are large oil and gas companies. The city has two meat processing plants, poultry farm, brewery, fish processing plant, the company working in the field of advertising and printing products. In addition to the powerful oil and gas industry production sector has developed in Nizhnevartovsk, namely, construction companies, factories for the production of building materials and raw materials.
