Parent’s Night Tuesday 19th October 2010 Nurture Group Parent’s Night Tuesday 19th October 2010
Objectives To provide an environment that is safe, secure and with a homelike atmosphere. To provide an environment which will develop the child’s self esteem and confidence through planned activities. To provide an environment that supports the child emotionally. To provide an environment with foundations for building social development through play.
Structure The group consists of children with a wide range of needs who are not, for whatever reason, achieving their full potential. The group has high expectations with clearly defined boundaries, positive reinforcement, consistency, structure and predictability. Prior to starting the group, discussions between staff and Pauline/Claire take place to identify areas where a child requires support.
Reasons for attending may be: Children who lack confidence and self esteem. Children who are unable to communicate with their peers or staff. Children with poor social skills that may in turn lead to behavioural problems. Children who for one reason or another have been unable to make a relationship of trust with a caring adult. Children who have suffered a trauma in their family. Children to act as role models within the group
