REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON WOMEN AND ICT ENVIRONMENT During the past decade the political and economic situation has been very difficult. The war resulted in an enormous brain drain This was, and still is, a very difficult period and in particular for women who have been carrying a heavy burden in their personal and family lives. “EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES” HOW WE STARTED? PROJECT: “EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES ICT CENTER e-WEC” OBJECTIVES: To create fixed and mobile educational centers for women To develop and increase the educational level of women trainers in using ICT To reduce the gap between rural and urban women in the use of ICT. e-WEC - MODULE 1 DEVELOPED AND CARRIED OUT SCOPE: To organize specialized five-day courses to train trainers To develop appropriate reading material that facilitates the learning process; tailored for beginners and user friendly To develop interactive self-learning tools. RESULTS SINCE DECEMBER 2003: 170 trainers certified (women teachers from rural areas, young mothers from “Mother’s house” instructors and their students from “Orphans house”) OUR BUDGET was 30 000 Euro CAIRO 17-19. 12. 2003 REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON WOMEN AND ICT
