Through My Eyes PETR SCHWARZ ENGLISH IN TURKEY 2016 student from grade two ENGLISH IN TURKEY 2016
Arrival After an hour bus ride from the airport we arrived at the Iberotel Palm Garden. It was a beautiful hotel and it was pleasant at the reception. As soon as the receptionist saw us, she called us and began to explain to us (of course in English) where we have our room, what time is breakfast, lunch and dinner and other things.
Transport to the Room We were taken to the room by a classic golf cart. My brother liked it very much, so he wanted to know if he could ride once more. His English is still not very good. So he called me to help him with it. "Can he drive again?" I asked. My brother raced a few more times. Meanwhile, we went to the room to unpack things. And then it was time for dinner.
Dining Room In the dining room, I met English everywhere. The food was served in buffet style, but it was served by waiters and sometimes by chefs. When I entered the dining room for the first time, I was fascinated by statuettes with English inscriptions. When I came closer, I found out, that statuettes are carved out of coloured ice. The funny one was, for example, on the ice yellow banana: “Hallo, I am yellow”. The schedule of events for the whole week in English was in front of the dining room. There I could read that disco will be on Monday, the beach volleyball will be on Tuesday, The laser game will be on Wednesday, etc.
Swimming Pool by the See Right next to the dining room there was a beautiful pool with several water slides in the form of a castle, but I was rather interested in the sea that was a short distance from the pool. There was a pebble beach and the sea was so clean that we could see fish swimming in it. I could go to the sea along the pier, which served as a diving board at the same time.
Sea Park Alanya One day we spent in a nearby sea park. My dream came true there. I swam with the sea lion. Just me and the sea lion named Efel were together in the saltwater pool. The whole time I was in the pool, Efel's instructor told me what to do. He spoke to me only in English. I understood most of the instructions, such as "feed him”. Some instructions I could not understand, for example "throw up", it made me a little nervous. After all, there was a three hundred pound animal in my pool. I think I needed English most at this moment of the holiday.
English Language Perhaps everyone spoke English in the hotel, except a few Russians, with whom I was not interested in speaking. I used English when I wanted to order something to drink, borrow tennis rackets, golf clubs, or anything else. Gradually I was becoming braver and the use of English was absolutely natural to me.
