VCE Product Design and Technology Units 1 & 2 A Timber Focus
Course Description The focus of Unit-1 is the redesigning and modification of an old styled timber TV Cabinet. Students will analyse the old cabinet and develop idea sketches, plans and written support information to demonstrate how the TV cabinet will be modified and improved. Students will build the main frame of the new TV Cabinet during Unit-1 and complete the doors and drawers later in the second half of unit-2. The focus of Unit-2 is based around group work ( Collaborative Design ). Students are placed in small groups and are required to design and construct a range of Timber Photo Frames. Each student will design four Photo Frames and make two. No one in the group is allowed to make the same Photo Frame. Once the collaborative design work of unit-2 has been completed, the students will go back and finish their Timber TV Cabinets.
