McNeil Siding Extension AWRR / Capitol Metro Train Flow Project Overview Background AWRR / UPRR interchange at AWRR yard no longer possible during AWRR commuter operations Rock customer expansion on AWRR requires operation of longer trains to accommodate volume increases Longer trains maximize efficiency and reduce train frequency Requires McNeil Siding extension for interchange between AWRR & UPRR UPRR / Amtrak Train Flow To AWRR Yard Project Benefits Siding extension facilitates interchange between AWRR & UPRR during commuter operations Commuter trains will use grade separation; interchange to occur at grade AWRR / Capitol Metro UPRR Mainline Operations Trains will predominantly enter / exit siding from North Locomotives will typically be at north end of siding Existing McNeil Siding McNeil Siding Extension

Amour Yellow Outside -- Green Inside Moves 1 Ton 436 Miles on 1 Gallon of Diesel Reduces Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 67% or More Compared to Truck One 100 car Rock Train Removes 400 Trucks from our Roads Locomotives Gensets & Green goats 60% of our fleet is EPA emission certified. TERP Funding locally for Gensets in the Non-attainment areas Statistics Streamlined Operations: In 3 years, we’ve taken out nearly a third of our work events to run the tightest operation possible. Work events are stops required to move a car from point A to point B. We flow cars for the fewest empty miles, That’s allowed us to pull a day out of average car trip time in the last 2 years. These result in a win-win for all UP “Green Goat” Hybrid Locomotive

Freight Rail Means Less Pollution Emissions Per Ton-Mile What does all this mean? – Less polution than any other major freight carrier – we are the green alternative The EPA found that while railroads account for 40 percent of the nation’s freight ton-miles, they account for only nine percent of total transportation-related NOx emissions and four percent of transportation-related particulate emissions.
