What life is like at Fort Hill now I am a Year 7 

What are the tutor groups? Tutor groups at Fort Hill are : Redgrave Owens Thorpe Drechsler Gebrselassie Tutor groups at Fort Hill are fun and helpful to the students as they can speak to their tutor if they are worried about anything.

We are here today for three reasons! To tell you what life as a secondary school pupil is like. To tell you what life at Fort Hill is like. Give you advice on how to cope with change.

What is life at secondary school really like? Junior school is smaller but in Fort Hill you have to be more mature and get your act together. All the new lessons you get to do. There are a lot more students and teachers and lots of different subjects. We carry our bags around and have timetables. It is a new start with new people! You have loads more freedom but also loads more homework!

What is life at Fort Hill like? Fun “We do lots more than just writing! We have completed archaeological digs in History, used Just Dance in PE and acted out plays in Drama.” Engaging “We cut up lungs in Science and made our own pretend digestive system out of crushed food!” Rewarding “We are rewarded lots for doing well. We have badges as tutor reps and year reps, we get house points each lesson.”

Who is your favourite teacher? Miss Cooper because she makes lessons fun. Miss Blair because she is really funny. Mr Bates because usually I don’t like History but he makes it fun and hilarious! Miss Allgood because although she is quite strict if you are good she will have a bit of fun. Miss Gaudoin and Mr Walt because they are expressive and kind. Mr Lewis because he has helped me get a lot better at Maths. I like all the teachers because they are all nice.

What would you say to Year 6 to stop them worrying about moving to secondary school? You will only get told off if you do something wrong. Fort Hill is nice. It is scary for the first day but you will soon find your way around. All of the other students help you to find your way to lessons. You will definitely make new friends. There is nothing to worry about. You shouldn’t worry about starting a new school as Year 7 is fun and you learn new things.

Our advice to you is simple! Never forget where you came from and the journey you took to get there. Always make new friends. Always go out of your comfort zone and take chances!

Thank you for listening to us today. Do you have any questions for us?
