Writing a Decimal in Expanded Form Separate each place value Write your answer as the sum of these place values

Ex. 1) 3.4016 3+0.4+0.001+0.0006

Writing a Decimal in Words Write out the whole number place values Use “and” where you see the decimal point Write out the decimal place values (don’t forget the “THS”!)

Ex. 2) 1,670.234 One thousand six hundred seventy and two hundred thirty-four thousandths
