John Glenn By Tori

Introduction John Glenn is an important astronaut. His childhood love of flying inspired him to become a pilot and astronaut. He has had many accomplishments in his life.

Childhood John Herschel Jr. was born July 18, 1921. He grew up in Concord, Ohio. He loved fast cars and airplanes. Charles Lindbergh was John Glenn’s hero.

What was his family like? John Glenn has a small family. He married Anna Margaret Castor who was his childhood sweetheart. He and his wife went to Muskingum college. They have two children.

What was his trip to space like? In 1962 he had his first flight in space. He flew 100 miles over the earth. Alone in the spaceship he went around the earth three times.

What were some of his accomplishments. John was a U.S. Marine fighter pilot. He flew from California to New York. He was a U.S. senator for 24 years in Ohio. He went back to space when he was 77.

Conclusion John Glenn played an important part in our history. He flew airplanes in two wars. He is a well known astronaut and a senator from the state of Ohio.
