Praising His Works Psalm 111

Hallelujah (1) “Praise the Lord” Is this word used with reverence today? “With my whole heart” – Deut. 6:5, 10:12 In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation

The Great Works of the Lord (2-9) “Works” – deeds, acts. Used 4-5 times in this psalm (3 different Hebrew words)

The Great Works of the Lord What are the works of the Lord? Creation Man His word His promises fulfilled Miracles His grace Provisions Etc.

The Great Works of the Lord (2-9) His works are: Great – magnificent, immense, substantial (cf. Eph. 1:19) Honorable - splendid – Psa. 145:4-5, 8:1 Glorious – majestic, Psa. 29:4, 8:5 (Heb. 2:5-8) Wonderful works - miraculous

The Great Works of the Lord (2-9) His works are: Remembered – God Keeps His promises Declared – told, explained, reported – Isa. 46:8-10, Psa. 86:8-10 Powerful – “In giving them heritage among the nations” Verity (truth, faithful) firm, constant, durable – Isa 55:11, cf. Matt. 24:35

The Great Works of the Lord (2-9) His works are: Justice –Judgment – fair Rom. 3:26 Sure – trustworthy, worthy to be obeyed – cf. 2 Tim. 3:16,17 Everlasting – it will stand forever. Done in truth (verity) Uprightness – straight, right

Holy and Awesome (9) Understanding God leads to a healthy attitude toward Him Respect, reverence, Heb. 12:28 KJV, “Holy and reverend is His name” Only time in KJV Hebrew word used frequently (47x) – fearful, dreadful, terrible. Awesome – other versions Do we hold His name in reverence Concerning titles – Matt. 23:6-10
