Goals of Foreign Language Classes Pronounce target language words Learn new vocabulary every day Communicate in short phrases and write simple sentences Learn basic grammar Read basic passages in Spanish Discover culture of target language countries

Grading Policy 60% Major Grades 30% Minor Grades/Quizzes 10% Daily/Homework

Grades Major Grades: Tests and projects Minor Grades: Quizzes, oral activities, and in-class assignments Daily Grades: Daily assignments, homework, and classroom participation

Required Materials Binder Chromebook Lined paper 2 pocket folders with pockets Writing untensils (Pens and Pencils, Markers) Interactive Notebook Sticky Notes

Homework Procedure Student is expected to practice minimum 15 minutes daily. Homework will be accepted 1 day after the original due date for a 75 Day 2 for a 50. After this date, the student will receive a 0.

Test Days Major Test Days: Wednesdays & Fridays Quizzes: Administered any day of the week

Retest Procedures Student will be permitted a reasonable opportunity to redo or retake any failed major grade (excluding midterms and final exams). Prior notification will be given for retesting dates. Retests will be administered before and after school within 1 week of receiving original results, unless an alternate time is arranged with the teacher by the student. Extra credit will not be given to elevate a student’s grade.

Absences It is student’s responsibility to complete the work missed within the allotted time. Students will be given the same amount of days that he/she was absent to complete the missed assignments. Tests and quizzes will need to be taken before or after school by appointment. If parents/students are aware of a future absence, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can be better prepared to assist you. Due to this being a high school credit course, students with excessive unexcused absences may be in jeopardy of losing credit.

Workbooks There are no issued workbooks. All information can be found on the ONLINE TEXT. Instructions are provided on this website.

Electronic Policy Please review the electronic policy in the student handbook. The electronic equipment will be confiscated if rules are not followed and a parent/guardian will be required to pay a $15.00 fee in cash/money order to recover it during regular school hours.
