1. Manifest Destiny With land being the measure of wealth, the USA has the right to expand west. Divine Right- God gives the USA the right to move west and take any land we want.

2. Why??? Mexico was still upset that they lost the territory of Tejas (Texas) during the Texas Revolution that ended 1836.

3. The 28th State Mexico was also angry that Texas joined the United States of America in 1845.

4. The Dispute Mexico and the United States argued about the southern border of Texas. Both sides sent troops to protect the land.

5. So it Begins April 25, 1846- US Calvary was attacked by Mexican Troops which resulted in President Polk asking for a Declaration of War on May 13.
