The Mexican-American War 1) John C. Fremont b 4 FIGURES John C. Fremont was a major in the U.S. army. He traveled to California and encouraged a group of 33 Anglos (Americans in California) to revolt against Mexican authorities. They took over a Mexican garrison in Sonoma California.

The Mexican-American War 2) James K. Polk b 4 FIGURES James K. Polk was the U.S. president during the Mexican-American War. A large part of his legacy is tied to this expansion of American territory and U.S. Imperialism.

The Mexican-American War 3) General Santa Anna b 4 FIGURES General Santa Anna was a military leader from both the Texas Revolution (forced to sign the peace treaty after losing a battle to the Texans) and in the Mexican-American War. He was known for his military brilliance and his short-temper.
