WHERE DO I GET A BOOK? At the School library: Before school, at lunch, after school, or selected Fridays. From the class library: Ask for permission and sign the sign-out sheet. Books you already own or borrow from friends.

WHEN WILL I READ? Three times a week in class for 20 minutes At home 20-30 minutes: HOMEWORK During Lunch or Nutrition When you finish your classwork early It is your responsibility to finish the book and book report on time

WHAT KIND OF BOOKS CAN I READ? Chapter books with at least 300 pages. Fiction or Non-fiction (biographies/autobiographies) Must have words

1 full page typed or written WRITTEN REPORT Book Reports: 1 full page typed or written Double space Due the 1st of every other month   Author/Genre: Who wrote the book / fiction, non-fiction, poetry, sci-fi, biography? Number of Pages: How many pages in the book? Plot: discuss the characters, event, and setting of where you are in the story right now. Commentary: Comment on what you are reading right now- do you like it, do you dis-like it? Is it scary, funny, sad, exciting…? Give at least 3 examples from the book that make you feel this way. Quotes and commentary: Choose 1 quote from the section of the book you are reading and comment on why you like the quote or think it is important to the story.

How do I illustrate my book report? Make a bookmark for the book Create a timeline of events from the novel Create an alternative cover for the novel Create a Facebook or Myspace profile for one of the characters Draw a comic strip of your book Make a map of your book Make a "WANTED" poster for the main character Create a poster for your book Choose a different way to illustrate your book each time

Grading Book Reports are worth 30 points 20 points for written report 10 points for illustration Book Reports are due on the 1st of every other month. If there is no school on the 1st then the are due the next day we are back in class.
