Objectives Who is a migratory student Needs assessment for the program Personal needs assessment for the migratory students New partner: Conexion Americas Questions

Definition of a Migratory Child Younger than 22 and has not graduated from high school or does not hold a high school equivalency certificate Has a parent, spouse, or guardian who is a migrant agricultural worker or a migrant fisher; and Has moved within the preceding 36 months in order to obtain (or seek) or to accompany (or join) a parent, spouse, or guardian for seasonal employment in qualifying agricultural or fishing work Such employment is a principal means of livelihood Has moved from one school district to another

School and District Responsibilities for Identification Gather and analyze the Occupational Survey Look for indicators in the enrollment package as it is returned Collect a Home Language Survey (HLS) Refer to the Migrant Program Education (MEP) partner, the list of students who could be migratory Follow up if you do not receive information back from the MEP partner

Certificate of Eligibility (COE) District or school refers or Occupational Survey Must be completed (by partner) for a student to be classified as migratory Partner certifies with COE State denotes as migratory NOTE: Changes will be coming next year

Qualifying Arrival Date (QAD) A move across school district boundaries Involves a change of residence To obtain qualifying work in agriculture or fishing, (not to relocate on a permanent basis) Occurred within the preceding 36 months
