History of Close Up Non-profit, non-partisan organization Mission is to help students become more effective and informed citizens Over 800,000 alums since 1971 Have worked with schools in the Houston area since we started (including several schools within Conroe ISD) www.CloseUp.org

Our Methodology Our Program…… Uses DC as a classroom to study democracy Reflects state learning standards for social studies & history Encourages students to learn from their peers of all backgrounds Teaches key skills and motivates positive attitudes for civic engagement Draws on classic questions of democracy Teaches students how to make informed decisions

Supervision and Security Night monitors at each hotel throughout the night. Emergency Hotline Number: 888.706.3450 Program Instructors have 140+ hours of training, certified in CPR/First Aid, undergone criminal background checks, with students at all times when exploring sites. Important Dates/Deadlines Total Cost: $2100 per student Scholarships are available for students in need (up to $900) First Deposit Deadline: Nov 1st, 2015 ($425, non-refundable) Final Payment Deadline: TBD probably mid Feb. Teachers: 1 teacher will attend for every 10 students Min. one male/one female per district guidelines
