What Do The Next Few Years Hold? Production and Supply — The Crunch Global steel production is up by 40% since January 1995 But raw materials expansion did not keep pace Lousy profits Excess capacity As long as there was a surplus, no one noticed But furnace capacity eventually hit materials constraint Which is why prices exploded Line represents raw materials capacity (ore, coke, scrap, etc).
