Becoming an Effective Leader ILM Level 5 Becoming an Effective Leader

Becoming an effective leader The purpose of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of effective leadership as required by a practising or potential middle manager. Understand own ability to fulfil key responsibilities of the leadership role Be able to evaluate own ability to lead others

What skills will you gain?  After studying this unit you will be to: Use different leadership styles, in different situations and with different people, and to use theories of emotional intelligence to review and make judgements on the effect of emotions on own and others’ performance Understand own ability to set direction and communicate this to others, and review own ability to motivate and delegate and empower others

What is different about this course? Coleg Llandrillo are committed to supporting organisations to develop High Performance Working Practices (HPWP’s). This means we place particular emphasis developing and supporting learning environments which are sustainable and drive your productivity and performance. We will be using a Blending Learning approach that has been proved to maximise your effective study time while allowing you to better manage your work and personal responsibilities.

What is Blended Learning? In-person classroom activities facilitated by a trained educator. Online learning materials, often including pre-recorded lectures given by that same instructor. Structured independent study time guided by the material in the lectures and skills developed during the classroom experience.

How do we do this? Using more technology, such as webinars and social media to interact with the tutor and other learners You will gain more digital skills that will help you in the workplace You will also learn using technology, as much of the theory will be in the form of online videos, so it’s less time consuming to learn

What are the benefits of Blended Learning? Blended Learning courses allow learners to take advantage of the flexibility and convenience of an online course while retaining the benefits of the face-to-face classroom experience. Using the different technologies will allow the tutor to help and support learners away from the classroom It also provides the opportunity for students to learn independently from their teacher and can allow teachers to monitor their students’ progress more closely than traditional methods.
