Facts about Typhoons There are about 18 countries at risk of being hit by a Typhoons. There are about 100 Typhoons a year. The word Typhoon comes from the Chinease meaning The “Great Wind”. Typhoons are caused from warm, moist air that spirals Upwards above Tropical Oceans. The biggest Typhoon on record was over 2,000 km wide.

Typhoon in the Philippines The Typhoons name is Typhoon Haiyan, it was the Most powerful Typhoon to hit land on record. Its wind Speed got up to 300 km/h. 4,000 people were killed, 2,000 are still missing, 20,000 are severly injured and 200,000 are left without homes.

Typhoon Destruction Tyhoons distroy houses, cars, trees, anything thats In their way. In the Philippines Typhoon Haiyan distroyed 200,000 Houses leaving over 300,000 people homless.
