2-18 Study Skills Learning Target: I will review adjectives. I will practice identifying adjectives. An ADJECTIVE modifies a noun or a pronoun. There are two main ways that adjectives can be used, as PREDICATE ADJECTIVES and as MODIFYING ADJECTIIVES.

2-18 Study Skills PREDICATE ADJECTIVES Learning Target: I will review adjectives. I will practice identifying adjectives. PREDICATE ADJECTIVES Predicate adjectives are adjectives that are used after linking verbs. Almost all predicate adjectives can also be used as modifying adjectives.

PREDICATE ADJECTIVES A useful test for recognizing predicate adjectives is to put VERY (or quite) in front of the suspected adjective. If the word really is a predicate adjective, it will still be a correct sentence. Example: The day was hot. The day was VERY hot.
