SPIRITUAL CHECKUP (II Corinthians 12:20-13:5) RCCG Canaan Land Digging Deep August 23, 2016 SPIRITUAL CHECKUP (II Corinthians 12:20-13:5)

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” What do we understand from the text we have read?

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” What do we understand from the text we have read? Those in spiritual oversight over us are responsible to monitor our obedience to God’s commandments. Persistence of believers in sin even after they had received the truth is as old as the Bible God will deal with sin in His church and He will use the leaders He has appointed. Every believer needs to do periodic checks to ensure they are still in the Way of Righteousness – don’t wait for the leader. Those who believe they can live permissively and fail to know that Jesus is with them have failed.

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” What is the spiritual condition of fallen man?

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” How do we carry out Spiritual checkup?

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” How do we carry out Spiritual checkup? Cleanse ourselves of everything that defiles – 2 Cor 7:1 The Word of Truth/Law – 1 Tim 1:8-11; 2 Tim 3:15- 16

Teachings by anointed ministers of God – 1 Tim 4:11-13 Chastisement/Discipline by God (receive it) – Heb 12:5-9 Honest and sincere self-examination and a readiness to make corrections where necessary – 2 Cor 13:5a

SPIRITUAL CHECKUP II Corinthians 12:20-13:5 II Corinthians 13:5a:“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves.” Conclusion: We need to carry out Spiritual checkup regularly The rewards of regular Spiritual checkup include God making us special vessels for His use and for the demonstration of His power (2 Tim 2:20-21); Holiness and righteousness without which no man will see God (Heb 12:10-11) and an abundance of God’s blessings (Jam 1:22-25).

It is therefore necessary that we periodically and regularly carry out Spiritual checkup in our lives to be sure we are living according to the tenets and doctrines of our most holy faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus.
