BLENDED LEARNING CELEBRATIONS: O.W.L. “Our Weekly Letter” Ms. Ives’ 4th Grade Class December 12th – 16th, 2016 Notes: Instructional Focus: Math- Partial products multiplication, metric units of mass, money number stories. Reading- Mini Novel-Study- Benjamin Franklin: Kid Zillionaire. Essential Question: “How can you use your resources to help others?” Genre: Adventure. Strategies: Identifying main idea and details, paraphrasing text Writing- Holiday Personal Narrative: “Write a personal narrative about your favorite holiday experience”. Science- Mapping earthquakes and volcanoes, Earth Science assessment. Social Studies- Railroads and cities in Nevada, Ch. 7 Assessment Each week, students are expected to meet their blended learning goals. The goals are as followed: ST Math- 5% weekly, Study Island- 3 ribbons weekly, Power Readers- 3 passed quizzes or 2 points weekly. I am so proud of everyone’s hard work so far! Keep up the great work!!  BLENDED LEARNING CELEBRATIONS: ST Math- Gage is currently at 81% Great job Gage! Study Island- Brooklin currently has 72 Blue Ribbons! Great work! Power Readers- Eric has passed 47 Power Reader quizzes with a total of 88.3 AR points total! Wow! Awesome job Eric! Important Information: We will NOT be having Power Hour this week. Students will stay in their homeroom classes during that time to focus on the mini-novel study being completed during reading. This Friday is a half-day due to Data Day. Dismissal will be at 11:30 am. Students will continue to present their PowerPoint presentations this week Ms. Ives’ class will be having our Holiday Party on Friday, December 16th. A sign-up genius was sent out to sign-up for goodies for that day. If you have not yet turned in the Hoover Dam Field Trip permission slip or paid for the field trip, please do so as soon as possible. Payments and permission slips are due on Jan. 5th! All payments for the field trip must be paid online through the Cadence website. For all information about upcoming events at Pinecrest Cadence, check out the Cougar Column each week! Please encourage your students to work on to ST Math and Study Island at home as often as possible. Students should also read books within their ZPD levels to take Power Reader quizzes on the next day in class. Check out MyOn for a digital library containing thousands of books that your students can choose from! BLENDED LEARNING COMPLETIONS: ST Math- Liliana, Eric, Camille, Brooklin, Lillian, Tyler, and Gabriel have all completed ST Math and are at 100%! Woohoo! Study Island- Gabriel and Tyler have completed all 90 ribbons! Enjoy Winter Break with your families! See you in 2017!
