SPRING TIME LINE RUBRIC
Presentation transcript:

Tone You will write a letter as if you were Brian, to his mother or father describing his experience and how he was affected. Included in the letter will be sketches of food Brian ate, animals he saw or encountered and things he witnessed occurring. Pictures speak words too! You are welcome to make your letter look worn as if it had been through the experience too. (We are going to assume Brian had a notebook and pen with him  ) Brian would have only been able to fold this letter and keep it closed with things he had with him or found in nature – you are welcome to get creative here. Picture sketches are usually done in pencil and have a lot of detail – if you’d like to color your sketches, that’s ok, but so is pencil as long as both are done with your best ability.

Name: Tone Rubric _______/30 points possible Points Earned Heading & Greeting ___/1 Body _______/15 Closing& Signature _______/1 Pictures ____/8 Conventions ____/5 HEADING: Includes the address and the date. In some cases, it is OK to just write the date. GREETING: The greeting usually starts with 'Dear' and is followed the person's name and then a comma. BODY: After skipping a line, you begin the body of your letter which is the main text of your letter. Indent for each new paragraph. Three paragraphs minimum is required. Each paragraph should be well constructed with a minimum of 5 sentences. CLOSING: The closing includes a short capitalized expression such as 'Sincerely' or 'Love' and is followed by a comma. Skip a line after the body before writing your closing. SIGNATURE: You sign your name beginning directly below the closing. Sometimes you may add a POSTSCRIPT at the end of your letter. You write P.S., add a note and then end it with your initials. This is where you will include a note to see the pictures for a better understanding of what you talked about Pictures: please include 8 sketches. You may draw them all on one paper or cut papers to make “photos” so they are all individual. No printing from the computer, Brian would not have had access to a computer 
