AVID Update October 2016

Schoolwide AVID Implementation Relies on the use of common instructional strategy Deliberate Implementation Impacts students throughout the school including those not in the tutorial class Increases rigor for students Costa’s Questioning Level

Tutorial Class Instructed by Ms. Graff Currently has 14 students First month serves as an introduction to the course. Beginning the transition to the regular course 3 days a week – Focus on skills needed for success in classes building wide. 2 days a week – Student-led tutorial coaching.

Impact on Professional Development Current focus is on Cornell Notes Focus will be on the WICOR strategies throughout the year. Teacher buy-in is prevalent PD is teacher led based on feedback
