Raksha bandhan A BOND OF LOVE

WHAT IS RAKHI Raksha Bandhan, or simply Rakhi is a Hindu festival, celebrated in many parts of the Indian subcontinent, notably India and Nepal.[2] Raksha bandhan means "bond of protection". It is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar month of Shravana, which typically falls in Gregorian calendar month of August.

WHAT IS RAKHI The festival celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters. It is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister type of relationship between men and women who may or may not be biologically related. On Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties a sacred thread on her brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. This symbolizes the sister's love. The brother gives her a token gift and a promise to protect her.

HISTORY ON RAKHI According to one version on a Sankranti day, Krishna managed to cut his little finger while handling sugarcane. Rukmini, his queen immediately sent her help to get a bandage cloth while Sathyabama, his other consort rushed to bring some cloth herself. Draupadi who was watching all of this rather simply tore off a part of her sari and bandaged his finger. In return for this deed, Krishna promised to protect her in time of distress. The word he is said to have uttered is 'Akshyam' which was a boon: 'May it be unending'. And that was how Draupadi's sari became endless and saved her embarrassment on the day she was disrobed in full public view in king Dritarashtra's court.

Someone who will understand Who knows the way I feel A Sister Like You Someone who will understand Who knows the way I feel In every situation Her concern is very real Someone who has walked my ways Who knows my every need Times when she would see me cry Her heart would nearly bleed Everyone should have a sister Just the way I do Richly blessed is what I am To have a sister like you HAPPY RAKHI
