Grading Breakdown 40% tests/projects ***ALL graded assignments (except notebooks) are sent home for review in a bi-weekly graded folder. Many items require a signature and return to school. 30% quizzes 20% classwork 10% homework

Math Math Math Workshop Schedule Students must memorize Multiplication Tables & Basic Addition & Subtraction facts --“Timed” 100 Multiplication Facts Quiz will be given at the end of each week to increase students’ fluency. --Technology-based Math Practice for fluency and math concepts taught will be during Small Strategy group time and Math Intervention period for each student using I-Ready Math and XtraMath.org (at home) computer based programs --I-Ready Log 4x per week w/parent signature --Go Math Textbook will be used in class and pages will be assigned for homework each day. This text is available on ThinkCentral.com --Math Journal/Notebook is where students take notes on daily lessons. They must bring it to class everyday and take it home to help complete homework and use to study. Math—80 minute Math Workshop Model consists of: --20 min. in Small Strategy Groups --10-15 min. Warm-Up/Do-Now activity & review of homework assignment --10-15 min. Mini-Lesson introduces the lesson of the day --20 min. of Student Activity (individual, pairs, or small group practice) --10 min. Reflection to write and discuss how students learned today

Science Focus-Earth Science --Knowing Science Curriculum using STEM lab kits with hands-on Science lessons that are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. --Long term assignments and activities to gain experience and demonstrate the concepts taught. --Engineering Design Squad activities in the classroom will be once per cycle. --1-1 Chromebook & Science Notebook is where students take notes and work on lessons & assignments. --Read Information Hand out for more details on how your child will learn Science this year. --Check out our Science page on our school’s website for more info and details on Enrichment and STEM Night activities.

Math Intervention Every student receives a full intervention period 3 days per cycle  Components of class:  Small group instruction with teacher Math Focus Skills Computer-based intervention (I-ready) While no grade will appear on the report card, progress reports will be provided *See Mrs. Anderson for more information.

Math & Science Assessments Parents need to sign up for Genesis to access your child’s grades. Red Graded Paper Folder sent home for parent’s signature after tests are graded. Math Tests will be given at the end of each unit of study and a Quiz (announced or pop quizzes) will be given once per week either on paper or EdConnect. Science Assessments will be given at the end of each Unit of Study. Math Quarterly & Unit Assessments will be given on the laptops at the end of each unit and every marking period on Ed Connect for Math & Science. Study Guides will be sent home to help prepare for Tests/Assessments and will be posted on my Teacher Contact Page.

Notebook Expectations ALL subjects require a notebook to be used for the entire year, or until a new one is needed. Notebooks are expected to have all classwork, homework, worksheets/handouts, and activities. Each page and handout MUST be labeled with the date and page number. Notebooks will be assessed once per marking period. **Keeping a notebook not only enhances the students academics but also their organizational skills.

Classroom Expectations Students are expected to: Be responsible and come to class prepared with all materials and assignments Be respectful of themselves and those around them Keep all hands, feet, and objects to themselves Raise their hand Leave seats when it is appropriate ALWAYS do their BEST!!!!

Homework Policy Math Homework is assigned nightly M-F and Science once or twice per week. The students write all of their homework down in their agenda upon entering the classroom and the teacher signs the Agenda. Homework is due the following day unless it has a specific due date. Homework and Projects are due on the due date. Homework will be accepted one day late for partial credit. (this does not apply to make up work from an absence) Homework collection and check-in procedures: checked and reviewed by Mrs. Jones daily.
