Lord of the Flies Vocabulary Ch 7 - 8 Mon 11-8 Contemptuously (adv) – scornfully; without respect, disdainfully She spoke contemptuously of her ex-husband after the divorce. Your sentence: Slinking (v) – to move in a quiet, sneaky or secret manner. I saw a cat slinking through the grass toward the robin. Tremulously (adv)– characterized by trembling, quivering or shaking from fear or nervousness. Sam n Eric, holding tremulously to one another, told the other boys they had seen a beast on the mountain.
