https://testnav.com/co TestNav TestNav is Pearson’s proprietary, browser-based, test delivery application. No downloads are necessary for TestNav. TestNav is accessed over the Internet to deliver secure tests online. TestNav is accessed by typing the URL provided to students on authorization tickets into a standard browser. https://testnav.com/co TestNav is Pearson’s proprietary, browser-based, test delivery application. No downloads are necessary for TestNav. It is accessed over the Internet to deliver secure tests online. And the URL that is in the on the screen is what the students will type in to access the secure online test, this URL is also printed on each student authorization ticket. A student authorization ticket is what is printed out in advance of the student testing and will have information on it that the student will need to login to their test.

TestNav Security TestNav uses a standard browser to securely deliver test content and transmit student responses to Pearson servers. TestNav authenticates user login credentials. Each student is given a Secure Student Authorization Ticket containing a Username and Test Code which is used to access a test. TestNav encrypts and decrypts test content and student responses. Desktop security prevents students from accessing other applications and resources during testing. We wanted to take some time discussing the security of TestNav. It uses a standard browser to securely deliver test content and transmit student responses to Pearson servers. It authenticates user login credentials. Each student is given a Secure Student Authorization Ticket containing a Username and Test Code which is used to access a test. This is why the student authorization tickets are secure materials. TestNav encrypts and decrypts test content and student responses. Desktop security prevents students from accessing other applications and resources during testing. So if a student tried to access Google during the test the test would automatically shut down

TestNav Performance & Reliability Supports a broad range of item and response types, from selected response and constructed response, to technology enhanced items, including drag and drop, hot spot, and simulations. TestNav uses Proctor Caching software, which downloads encrypted test content locally, increasing speed and reliability of online testing. TestNav Early Warning System (EWS) notifies proctors of connectivity issues while allowing the students to continue testing. EWS saves encrypted response data in the event of a network failure. TestNav Student Login via Authorization Tickets Districts will use the New Student Wizard or the Student Data Upload (SDU) process to load students into PearsonAccess. SACs will create individual Student Authorization Tickets that will have the following information: TestNav browser URL Username Test code The Student Authorization Tickets are secure materials that must remain in secure storage. SACs will distribute and then collect the tickets from Test Proctors on the day of testing. Student View of TestNav 7.5 Tool bar Here is a student view of a test question in TestNav 7.5. TestNav 7.5 will be used for the field test. A new version of the test engine, TestNav 8.0 will be used for the operational assessment beginning this spring. The new version of the test engine is still being developed and tested. The new test engine will allow school districts to use devices such as iPads and chromebooks for testing. These devices are not compatible with TestNav 7.5. There will be some differences in look and functionality between the two testing engines. We have the Tool bar at the top which has all the tools that are available for the Fall Field test Then at the bottom we have a QuickNav bar which allows students to go quickly back and forth between questions Next to that there is a flag that the student can click on if they would like to flag the question for later review And then in the middle it lets the student know what question number they are on out of how many there are in total The section review button will take the student to another screen that will list all of the questions and show which are answered and unanswered and which questions they may have flagged for review And then the last two buttons there allow the student to advance one question or go back one question. Question # Section Section Review Review Flag Navigation QuickNav

TestNav 7.5 Tools TestNav 7.5 includes a full suite of online tools to enhance the student’s experience during the field test: As you just saw, TestNav 7.5 includes a full suite of online tools that are available for the Fall Field Test. Listed here is a chart that shows what tools are available for the Field Test by grade and subject. As you can see the first six tools as well as the last two are available on all online tests across all subjects. The inch ruler is not available for G5 and the cm ruler is not available for any of the social studies tests. The calculators and periodic table are only on certain grades and subjects as well.

TestNav 7.5 Tools Pointer Ruler Eraser Calculator (science only) Highlighter Periodic Table Eliminate Choice (grade 8 science only) Magnifier Note Pad Help Pencil And here we have the tools listed in order that they appear in the tool bar. *Go through and point out each one* NOTE: the line reader is found under the RULER tool

TestNav 7.5 Review Screen Here is the review screen in TestNav 7.5. This is the last page that the student will see before submitting their test. As you can see, they are able to see if they forgot to answer any questions or if they flagged questions that they wanted to review

Exiting TestNav If the student tries to exit the test, this screen will appear. It list the three options they have: Returning to the test Exiting and finishing later Or submitting the test

ePAT (Practice Test Environment) An ePAT is a standalone Practice Test Environment that provides students with hands-on access to try TestNav, online tools and sample items before taking an online test. ePATs provide students and educators with the opportunity to interact directly with sample items in a non-secure setting. No Username or Test Code is required. Minimum Systems Requirements (provided to the District Technology Coordinator) apply to both TestNav and ePAT software. Please ensure that the DTC has received, reviewed and confirmed the minimum system requirements and other technical documentation. I mentioned ePATs earlier. The ePAT is a practice test environment where students are able to get hands on access to try out TestNav 7.5, the tools and work with sample items. There is no username or test code required to access the ePATs, they will be posted on PearsonAccess under the support tab There are minimum system requirements that apply to both TestNav and the ePATs which have been provided to your DTC so should you run into any issues please let your DTC know. Keep in mind the ePATs available now are for TestNav 7.5. We expect to release TestNav 8.0 ePATs in late fall or early winter as mentioned before there will be differences in look and functionally of the TestNav 8.0 ePAT from 7.5.

ePATs are available on the Support tab of PearsonAccess As I mentioned, the ePATs will be on PearsonAccess under the support tab You will not need a login or password to access the ePATs

Colorado Summative Science and Social Studies ePATs Sample items will be accessed via ePATs posted on PearsonAccess. PearsonAccess > Support Elementary and middle school ePATs are available.
