Scholar – Heriot Watt The SCHOLAR programme offers subjects which provide a route into careers in science, engineering, business and modern languages. SCHOLAR provides an integrated set of materials and services which meet the needs of both students and their teachers.   Developed specifically from SQA course content and matched to an individual pupil and their courses. Covers around 30 courses from N5 to Advanced Higher. Contains explanations, notes, interactive animations, quizes and end of topic test.

Every pupil that is enrolled through SEEMIS automatically get a username and password. This means when they login that they get personalised page with their subjects. Their teacher can also monitor their usage. There are also homework tutorials delivered by subject specialists at predefined times with pre-defined content.

Khan Academy is used worldwide and so the content is huge and not specifically tailored to the Scottish curriculum. It has gained a lot of recognition for the quality of the explanations, the interactivity and trying to build progression within certain content. However, the methods used in videos may match the one used by a class teacher. Students will be unsure if content is in their course. If you use the search facility and find the correct content then it could be a big help.
