Genres of Literature Horror

Horror A genre of literature that is meant to evoke fear or scare you

Horror: Literary Elements Tone: style or manner in which author writes something Examples: Gloomy, suspicious, ironic, etc. Mood: what you feel while reading Examples: Terror, fear, sadness, etc.

Key to Horror Word Choice Plot Imagery: appeals to the senses - ex. “the hinges creaked” Alliteration: same beginning sound – “hideous heart” Grim Humor Repetition Plot Suspenseful Element of evil Discovery Plot – find something Over-reacher Plot – in search of forbidden
