Does it makes our live easier? New Media Does it makes our live easier?

What’s New Media? It’s a modern way of contacting people. It follows the logic of the globalized society whereby every citizen can make her own lifestyle. A dynamic communication channel. A tool to reach your publics.

What New Media isn’t. It’s not a replacement for: Face-to-face communication. Traditional communication tools.

How communicating used to be.

How we communicate nowadays.

Examples of New Media. Blogs. Wikis. Podcast. Social networks. Videoblogs/vlogs. Wikis. Podcast. Social networks.

A Blog. A website with & where: Why a Blog? A post where others can openly reply on. Commenting. Personal stories. You can have a debate. Why a Blog? Build a genuine community. A lot of people know your message.

A Wiki. What is it? Why a Wiki? Site with information added by people themselves. Free information. Anyone can edit this information. Why a Wiki? You can find all the information on one website.

A podcast. What is it? Why a podcast? It’s a series of media files. A webradio that can be listened on on an electronic device. Why a podcast? It’s easy. It’s portable.

Globalization. New Media is international, you can contact people all over the world. It creates a virtual community. People use words on screens, videos or speech to communicate with eachother.

New Media are changing our social lives. Changed our social live rapidly. Has many functions in the social movements; like education etc. Can be used to organize actions; like the demonstrating in Egypt. However: Not all the people are convinced that New Media is better for our lives.

Interactivity. Enables user-to-user interactivity and interactivity between user and information. No limit to our creativity.

National security. People can organize not only good things, but also bad things that involves the national security. Wikileaks. They use new media to serve information to everybody. Including private information between states and important people.

Conclusion. Advantages. Disadvantages. Fast to contact friends Listen to music for free Everywhere accessible Easy to use Bring people together Disadvantages. Wasting your time If you don’t have it, you’re a “loser”. You can use it for bad purposes
