Measurement centimeter and millimeter Karla Mills 3rd Grade

Tennessee Standards 0306.4.10  Use reasonable units of length (i.e. kilometer, meter, centimeter; mile, yard, foot, inch) in estimates and measures. 0306.4.12 Make and record measurements that use mixed units within the same system of measurement (such as feet and inches, meters and centimeters).         0306.4.11  Know common equivalences for length (1 meter = 100 centimeters, 1 yard = 3 feet, 1 foot = 12 inches). 0306.4.13  Use common abbreviations: km, m, cm, in, ft, yd, mi.

The top is the centimeter side of the ruler The abbreviation for centimeter is cm.

Each small line on the centimeter side is a millimeter.

Ten millimeters equal one centimeter. Abbreviation for millimeter is mm

A 2 centimeter line is equal to 20 millimeters.

A 3 centimeter 4 millimeter line is 3 centimeters and 4 more millimeter lines. The black line is 3 cm. The red line is a 3 centimeter 4 millimeter line.
