Fig. 2 Participant flow chart. A total of 136 patients who had undergone hip fracture surgery over a period of eight months were included in this study. Of these, 38 met the inclusion criteria and provided written consent. Six patients were excluded due to difficulty in continuing rehabilitation, difficulty in whey protein intake, and discharge ahead of schedule. Finally, 15 patients were recruited into the whey protein group and 17 into the control group.
