Lazarus is Raised John 11:1-52

We see Jesus’ love So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” (John 11:3 ESV) Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. (John 11:5 ESV) When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. (John 11:33 ESV)

We see Jesus’ love Jesus wept. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” (John 11:35-36 ESV) Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. (John 11:38 ESV)

We see Jesus’ love For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.. (Hebrews 4:15 ESV)

We see Jesus’ love in his solution Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:23-26)

We see Jesus’ love in his solution So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. (1 Corinthians 15:42 ESV) The resurrection of immortality

We see Jesus’ love in his solution that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:11 ESV) The resurrection worth anything and everything

We see Jesus’ love in his solution Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (1 Peter 1:3 ESV) The resurrection of hope

We see Jesus’ Power over Death But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” (John 11:4 ESV So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. (John 11:6 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Death Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, (John 11:14 ESV) Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” (John 11:23 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Death and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, (Romans 1:4 ESV) For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. (Romans 6:5 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Death Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Sin Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. (Isaiah 59:1-2) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Sin And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:16-17 ESV) …Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. (Genesis 3:22-23 ESV)

Jerusalem Talmud, Moed Qatan 3:5 For the first three days after death, the soul hovers over the body, thinking that it will return to it. When it sees that the appearance of the corpse deteriorates, it leaves the body and goes its way.

We see Jesus’ Power over Sin Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” (John 11:39 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Sin he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. (Acts 2:31-32 ESV)

We see Jesus’ Power over Sin but he whom God raised up did not see corruption. Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, (Acts 13:37-38 ESV)

We see Jesus Teaching Faith Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” (John 11:14-15 ESV)

We see Jesus Faith on Display So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” (John 11:16 ESV) and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” (John 11:26-27 ESV)

We see Jesus Teaching Faith So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” (John 11:41-42 ESV)

We see Jesus has glory and power Over death Over sin Because he loves us And ties it all together and demonstrates it in the resurrection Do you believe?
