www.scimathmn.org How to Engage Kids in STEM Education Start Early. Even young children can count, compare, & predict. Find fun ways to build on these innate STEM skills. Get your child outside. The beginning of any innovation or scientific exploration is observation. What better place than in Minnesota’s great outdoors to start observing and wondering “why” and “what if”? Seek out STEM extracurricular opportunities. Many schools, museums, libraries and community centers offer STEM programming. Here children can have a fun interaction with STEM and make new friends who share their interests. Talk with your child’s teacher early and often. Support your child’s homework – do it with, not for them. www.scimathmn.org
