CELL PRESENTATION: LABORATORY AND TEACHING FACILITIES @ EKSU ACADEMIC SUMMIT 2nd – 4th February, 2016

RECCOMMENDATIONS ON : TEACHING FACILITIES Very large classes can be split into groups; Design, size and number of Lecture Theatres (LT); Cleanliness of LT floors and walls, good chairs; Enhancement of E-Learning facilities: Provision of fixed power-point projector and screen proportionate to the classroom; Replacement of obsolete and dilapidated marker boards ; Provision of interactive boards, especially for large LTs where elementary courses hold; Periodic training of Academic staff on the use of E-learning facilities (preparation of lecture materials on modular basis; lecture delivery using interactive boards; on-line interaction with students (assignments, CA and scores, etc.).

RECCOMMENDATIONS ON : TEACHING FACILITIES contd. Availability of power and PAS in all LTs; (Use of rechargeable PAS and projector is an optin); Provision of well-equipped Resource Centers to aid learning process (e.g. language lab.); Installation of access control to LTs equipped with state-of-the-art facilities; Provision of adequate security for such LTs;

RECCOMMENDATIONS ON : LABORATORY FACILITIES Urgent need to expand the current laboratory/workshop spaces, which were constructed for 50 students, now to accommodate >400 students; Availability of power and water (24/7) in the laboratories/workshops; Employment of more specialized Technologists; Training and re-training of Technologists, particularly in developed countries (eg. Through MoU);

RECCOMMENDATIONS ON : LABORATORY FACILITIES contd. Purchase of state-of-the-art equipment, for cutting-edge research; Involvement of end-users in the purchase and installation of laboratory equipment; Office accommodation for Technologists should be made conducive for Laboratory administration and procedures; Establishment of Equipment maintenance Centre Inclusion of Chief Technologist in the Departmental/Faculty Board Meeting

RECCOMMENDATIONS ON : LABORATORY FACILITIES contd. Teaching laboratories should have functional magnetic/electronic board installed; Extension of intranet to the laboratories; Replacement of obsolete fume cupboards with laminar flow hoods in the teaching laboratories; Provision of teaching aids/models (e.g. prepared slides, museum specimen models, etc.) for the teaching laboratories; Auctioning of obsolete equipment; Development of policy for effective management of the Central Laboratory.
