The Priority Deadline for the Fall 2017 FAFSA application is December 1st, 2016. This means that 2015 tax information will be used for the 2017-2018 FAFSA Application.

Process after applying University receives FAFSA Takes up to 3 business days after student files Contacts students if missing any documents Check Eagle email (Also known as NU email) Package financial aid Send Award Letter to student Student signs and returns Award Letter Aid disburses 3 weeks after the first of the term

Types of Financial Aid: No Need = interest accumulates right away https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types
Verification Process Randomly selected by Department of Education Can take up to 10-15 business days Must be completed prior to finalizing financial eligibility Aid will not disburse until this process is complete Possible documents that may be requested: Verification Worksheet Asset Confirmation Form Student’s 2015 Federal Tax Transcript Parent’s or Spouse’s 2015 Federal Tax Transcript Verification of Child Support Family Expense Worksheet
Award Letter and Estimate Must accept and return Award Letter Can change or decline amount provided If this happens then a new estimate will be sent to the student Estimate shows costs and anticipated aid Positive number = OUT OF POCKET Negative number = REFUND http://eagle.northwestu.edu/
