CABA RESEARCH PROJECTS Improving Organizational Productivity with Building Automation Systems The Continental Automated Buildings Association is conducting a Boutique Research project called “Improving Organizational Productivity with Building Automation Systems”. NRC and Continental Automated  Buildings Association (CABA) members are undertaking a structured initiative to demonstrate that smart, integrated technologies produce organizational productivity gains in addition to energy and environmental savings. The result will transform the high-performance  buildings industry by establishing the built environment as a strategic tool for organizations to achieve their goals.   CABA AND THESE MEMBERS ARE COLLABORATING AND FUNDING THIS RESEARCH: Page 9

CABA RESEARCH PROJECTS Intelligent Buildings and the Impact of the Internet of Things The Continental Automated Buildings Association is conducting a Landmark Research project called “Intelligent Buildings and the Impact of the Internet of Things”. This CABA research project will examine the impact of IoT related to intelligent buildings. This research will provide actionable data relevant to all segments of the intelligent building value chain, including, but not limited to: building owners, technology manufacturers, builders and developers, integrators and installers, service providers, insurance companies, industry associations and utilities. CABA AND THESE MEMBERS ARE COLLABORATING AND FUNDING THIS RESEARCH: Page 10

CABA RESEARCH PROJECTS Connected Multi-Dwelling Units and the Internet of Things The Continental Automated Buildings Association is conducting a Landmark Research project called “Connected Multi-Dwelling Units and the Internet of Things”. The goal of this research project is to provide a comprehensive examination of all the major aspects of IoT related to MDUs, including: state of the market, MDU IoT trends, business opportunities, technical barriers and opportunities, future market direction, issues, case studies and industry recommendations. CABA AND THESE MEMBERS ARE COLLABORATING AND FUNDING THIS RESEARCH: Page 11

CABA Affinity Research Program CABA Affinity Research Program launch date was September 30, 2016. CABA Member Research firms offer discounts to CABA Members who purchase their research. This is a free CABA Member benefit designed to save CABA members money, when purchasing non-CABA produced research. The following CABA Members have tentatively agreed to participate in this new CABA Program: BSRIA Compass Intelligence Navigant Research Page 12

CABA Teaming Agreements CABA member organizations can work together to ‘beta test’ a new problem, they would like to solve, in a pilot project. This differs from other CABA market research projects (Landmark or Multi-Client Boutique) because intellectual property and/or patents may be involved.  The CABA Teaming Agreement program was successfully done by CABA in the past (i.e., Laundry Time) and there has been interest by CABA members to start new Teaming Agreements. CABA is actively seeking organizations that would be interested in participating in a pilot project to solve a particular problem they are facing. Contact Greg Walker, CABA Research Director, (walker@caba.org) for more information. Page 13

CABA’s Councils Members: 170 Members: 236 Members: 16 This Council examines industry opportunities that can accelerate the adoption of new IoT technologies, consumer electronics and broadband services within the burgeoning connected home market. Members: 170 This Council specifically reviews opportunities, strategizes, takes action and monitors initiatives that relate to integrated systems, IoT, and automation in the "large building" sector. The Council is comprised of leading and visionary representation from all segments of the building industry including manufacturers, service providers, building owners and building professionals. Members: 236 The CABA Information Council identifies and reviews white papers and research for the CABA Information Series, the most authoritative source for technical information in the home and large building automation sectors. The Information Series populate the "world's largest" research library for “IoT in connected homes and intelligent buildings". Members: 16 Page 14

White Paper Initiatives CABA INDUSTRY BENEFITS Meet thought leaders and share industry insights…. Town Halls and Think Tanks: NEW CABA will be hosting a number of Town Hall and Think Tank events at key industry events. The purpose is to bring together key industry leaders and subject matter experts that can discuss and share important industry news. More importantly, key initiatives can be identified so that the CABA Board and Councils can take further action. White Paper Initiatives Offers a ‘snapshot’ or synthesis of existing industry information. Only CABA members can identify a topic for a CABA White Paper. Papers are profiled on the CABA Web site and through the CABA NewsBrief. A meeting is held every two (2) months to discuss potential white papers. Page 15
