Pop Quiz Homework: Read On the Rainy River by Friday Reading Check Quiz on Monday, Feb 27th

Argument Essay Advice Use a larger vocabulary Use words like “however” and “furthermore” Don’t support the counter claim too much. Prove your point. Rebuttal, you can’t argue without one. Use big words. Don’t ramble. Don’t go to sleep. Reread your writing. Does it make sense? Act like you are arguing with someone that knows what they are talking about. Your opening sentence is what draws the reader in so make it good. Have good textual support to back up what you’re saying. Wrap up your argument with an awesome conclusion. Don’t use “I” this essay is not about you. Don’t say, “I think, or I believe” Eat a good breakfast. Get some sleep. Choose the side with the most evidence! Find evidence in the text that supports your argument. State your claim. Have strong paragraphs. Be sure you have a counterclaim and a rebuttal. Be sure your introduction is strong. Cite your sources Don’t use “I, me or my” Stay organized and be sure your essay makes sense. Use transition words Be sure your thesis is clear. You need at least 2 well put together paragraphs. Make sure your conclusion is the “drop the mic” moment. Don’t space out. Don’t sleep. At least 4 paragraphs. Revise your work if there’s time.
