Question 1 What factors help to give the UK its moderate/ mild climate? The gulf stream from the Atlantic Ocean keeps the climate of the United Kingdom as a marine climate

Question 2 Why do you think Russia has so many different climate types? It is so big and spans two continents.

Question 3 Where is the highland climate of Germany found? In the southern region in the Alps mountains.

Question 4 Give and example of how a physical feature could be a barrier to trade. A mountain could make it hard to trade.

Question 5 Give an example of a physical feature that could benefit trade. A river could benefit trade by allowing access to interior parts of the country.

Question 6 How does the availability of natural resources affect trade? When a country has an abundance of natural resources, they are more likely to trade.

Question 7 Russia has an abundance of natural resources such as oil, but Russians are unable to use many of these resources. Explain why you think this is so. The harsh cold tundra to the north is frozen and the area is not accessible.

Question 8 Compare the population in Europe to that of the United States. The population of Europe is more dense than the United States. Europe has a higher population density.

Question 9 What do all the capitals of each country on your charts have in common? The areas around the capitals are heavily populated.

Question 10 Why do you think many manufacturing and trade centers (major cities) are located close to rivers? So they can use those rivers to trade with other countries

Question 11 Which country do you think would be easier to trade with, the United Kingdom or Russia? Why? Use evidence from your chart. It is easier to trade with the United States because of it’s location on the Atlantic Ocean.
