Prelude for Worship Martha Short
Text “Welcome” to 540-999-1889
O For A Thousand Tongues to Sing
My great Redeemer's praise The glories of my God and King O for a thousand Tongues to sing My great Redeemer's praise The glories of my God and King The triumphs of His grace
My gracious Master and my God Assist me to proclaim To spread through all The earth abroad The honors of Thy name
That bids my sorrows cease 'Tis music in the sinner's ears Jesus The name That calms my fears That bids my sorrows cease 'Tis music in the sinner's ears 'Tis life and health and peace
He sets the prisoner free His blood can make The foulest clean He breaks the power Of canceled sin He sets the prisoner free His blood can make The foulest clean His blood availed for me
Praise To The Lord The Almighty Joachim Neander Traditional - Public Domain This arrangement by Travis Cottrell and Paul Mills © 2004 Integrity's Hosanna! Music/ASCAP CCLI #606984
Praise to the Lord the Almighty The King of creation O my soul praise Him For He is thy health and salvation All ye who hear now To His temple draw near Join me in glad adoration
So wondrously reigneth Shelters thee under His wings Praise to the Lord Who o’er all things So wondrously reigneth Shelters thee under His wings Yea so gently sustaineth Hast thou not seen How all thy longings have been Granted in what He ordaineth
Thy work and defend thee Surely His goodness and mercy Praise to the Lord Who doth prosper Thy work and defend thee Surely His goodness and mercy Here daily attend thee Ponder anew what The Almighty can do If with His love He befriend thee
Praise the Lord
Praise to the Lord O let all that is in me adore Him All that hath life and breath Come now with praises before Him Let the amen Sound from His people again Gladly forever we adore him
Tithes and Offering
Colossians 1:15–20 (NASB) 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Colossians 1:15–20 (NASB) 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
Colossians 1:15–20 (NASB) 19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Christ is Enough because of Who He is Paul wants to put these questions to rest by helping the church rehearse who Christ is.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is The Christ Hymn - a highly poetic and deeply theological set of verses easily memorized and sung by the early church.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is To overcome anything that threatens to undermine our life in the Son:
Christ is Enough because of Who He is We must remember Jesus is the One who shows us God (15a); We must remember everything in the universe is from the Son and for the glory of the Son (15b–17), and We must give Jesus first place in all things (18–20).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is 1. We must remember Jesus is the One who shows us God (15a).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Jesus is the One who makes the invisible God visible.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3
Christ is Enough because of Who He is When someone brings up an approach, method, or philosophy that minimizes or excludes or adds to Christ as our hope of seeing God, their message is not from God: “for the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they may not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor 4:4).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is 2. We must remember everything in the universe is from the Son and for the glory of the Son (15b–17).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is In this context, firstborn (15) has nothing to do with Jesus’ birth and everything to do with His authority as creation’s Creator.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Israel is called God’s firstborn in Exod 4:22 even though the nation came from Jacob, Isaac’s second born son who was, himself, Abraham’s second-born son.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Jesus is the true firstborn with the right to all that is the Father’s because He and the Father are one. No one has any share in what belongs to the Father unless he belongs, by faith, to the eternally begotten firstborn of the Father.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Creation finds its significance in Him (16) Creation owes its existence to Him because it came through Him (16) Everything that exists is for Him (16) Everything that exists does so b/c it is held together or endures in Him (17).
Christ is Enough for Our Pursuit It is no accident that the center line of this hymn (17) makes the point that “things make sense only when Christ is kept at the center” (Moo, 126).
Christ is Enough for Our Pursuit F.F. Bruce writes, “for those who have been redeemed by Christ, the universe has no ultimate terrors; they know that their redeemer is also creator, ruler, and goal of all.”
Christ is Enough for Our Pursuit The Son of God is Creator God; He is before all things (17). There was a time when there was no other power and no other thing other than God, and God spoke all that exists into existence through God the Son, the eternal Word of God, for the glory of His Son.
Christ is Enough for Our Pursuit Christ the Son of God is Lord of all Creation. Why would we go to any other Person or power for life and purpose?
Christ is Enough because of Who He is 3. We must give Jesus first place in all things (18–20).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is A church which is severed from its head is dead, but a church which is following its head is actively bringing a fallen world back to its all-glorious Creator.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Jesus is the beginning or founder of creation in Gen 1:1, and He is the beginning of the church – God’s new creation.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Jesus is firstborn from the dead, the sure hope of our resurrection. He has proven His authority over even death, our greatest enemy, and all who belong to His new creation by faith will share forever in His life.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is As we give Christ our head, founder, and sure hope of resurrection the preeminence He deserves (18), God is at work in the world in supernatural ways, reconciling all things to Christ Himself (20).
Christ is Enough because of Who He is It would have been enough for him to say, the fullness of God dwells in Christ, but he tells us all the fullness of God dwells in Christ – there is nothing of what it is to be God that is not in Christ.
Christ is Enough because of Who He is Though the world may mock at a salvation that comes from a Creator who hung on a cross and endured an embarrassing death to purify a people for Himself and make them His ambassadors to a broken world – make no mistake about it – the cross on which Jesus died is His cross (20)!
Christ is Enough because of Who He is As Abraham Kuyper writes, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”
All Hail the Power Of Jesus’ Name
All hail the power of Jesus’ Name Let angels prostrate fall Bring forth the royal diadem And crown Him Lord of All
Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race Ye ransomed from the fall Hail Him who saves You by His grace And crown Him Lord of All
Let every kindred every tribe On this terrestrial ball To Him all majesty ascribe And crown Him Lord of All
O that with yonder sacred throng We at His feet may fall We’ll join the everlasting song And crown Him Lord of All

Counting On God
I'm in a fight not physical And I'm in a war But not with this world You are the light that's beautiful And I want more I want all that's Yours
What tomorrow will bring 'Cause my faith is on solid rock Joy unspeakable That won't go away Just enough strength To live for today So I never have to worry What tomorrow will bring 'Cause my faith is on solid rock I'm counting on God
I'm counting on I'm counting on God
And the miracle of Christ in me Is the mystery that sets me free I'm nothing like I used to be Just open up your eyes you'll see
That the miracle of Christ in me Is the mystery that sets me free I'm nothing like I used to be Just open up your eyes you'll see
What tomorrow will bring 'Cause my faith is on solid rock Joy unspeakable That won't go away Just enough strength To live for today So I never have to worry What tomorrow will bring 'Cause my faith is on solid rock I'm counting on God
I'm counting on I'm counting on God
