Death of Animal Sympathy Daniel Milan

Reasons for Animal Cruelty Exploitation of animals for Capitalism Territorial Expansion Diverse Human Diet

Exploitation of Animals for Capitalism Piglet Castration and Tail Docking Removing the testicles prevents odors from developing thus pleasing consumers. Removing the tails prevents other pigs from chewing on them, allowing the pigs to be raised in a more peaceful environment. Shark Finning Since the Chinese Dynasties, the shark fins have been used for soup bases. In a recent study, there was a significant decline in shark populations correlated with shark finning.

Decline of Different Shark Species in Different Regions Correlated with Shark Finning

Territorial Expansion Bison Hunting In the late 1800’s the population of Bison declined due to American territorial expansion. Bison Populations led to near extinction of Bison. Ranching and farming decreased areas of bison enviroments. Deforestation With the current expansion of the human population in the South part of the western hemisphere, trees are being taken down at an alarming rate destroying every thing is its path.

Characteristics of Humans compared to Carnivores Small Mouths Grind food into small pieces with smooth teeth Muscular tounges Long intestines Carnivores Large mouths Swallow large chunks of prey Sharp, jagged teeth Highly developed temporalis muscule

Diverse Human Diet Human teeth are closely related to those of herbivores Humans utilize all types of animals for food Swine Poultry Cattle Fish and other sea dwelling animals Human Herbivore

Conclusion These examples are all unethical forms of animal cruelty They lead different world organizations to put in place laws and regulations in order to prevent animal extinction and cruelty. Humans are structured to eat a diet similar to herbivores rather than eating a diet composed of other animals
