Kitchenware ESL Lesson Beginning Level ESL Lesson: Students will learn kitchen vocabulary. Kitchenware includes silverware, plates, pots, pans, and more. We use kitchenware to prepare and serve food. ESL Lesson Beginning Level

plate We eat the main part of our meal on a dinner plate. Plates are round.

silverware Silverware includes spoons, forks, and knives.

table setting A table setting includes plates, silverware, glasses, and cups.

formal setting Formal table settings have more dishes and silverware. A formal setting includes wine glasses.

cup & saucer Tea cups come with saucers.

measuring spoons tsp Tbsp 1/2 tsp 1/3 tsp 1/4 tsp Measuring spoons come in sets of five or more spoons. They are used to measure ingredients when cooking. Tbsp

measuring cups 1 cup 1/4 cup 1/3 cup 1/2 cup Measuring cups come in sets. Each cup is marked with the amount it can hold. 1 cup

rolling pin Rolling pins are used to make cookies and pie crust.

cutting board Cooks cut onions and bell peppers on a cutting board. Cutting boards can be wood or plastic.

ice cube tray Ice cube trays are filled with water and then put in the freezer.

pan & lid Many people store their pans with the lid upside down.

frying pan Many frying pans have holes in the handles so they can be hung up.

iron skillet Iron skillets are very heavy. They rust when they get wet.

pot and lid Tall pots are used to cook soups and stews.

pressure cooker Read the directions carefully before using a pressure cooker.

bread pan Besides bread, you can also make meatloaf in a bread pan.

cookie sheet Non-stick cookies sheets are easy to clean.

kettle This might be an electric tea kettle. It plugs into an outlet.

salt & pepper shakers Salt and pepper shakers are sold in pairs.

soup ladle Soup ladles have long handles.

egg turner Egg turners are also called spatulas.

wok Meats and vegetables cooked in a wok are usually healthy.

egg cup Most people don’t use egg cups.
