Presentation transcript:

Maths in animation By wen Morley

Introduction I chose animation because it seemed like an interesting job and I wanted to see how maths would be involved in it.

Animation Animation is the art of making images (called frames) that when played rapidly create the illusion of movement. Animation is used in many fields, notably film, television and video games. The average salary an animator might get is £51,099 a year, while high end salary might get £90,743 (this was transferred from US dollars)

Maths needed To become an animator, the maths you need are college algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus 1 & 2 and linear algebra. Maths is used to show how an object moves, turns grows or shrinks. It is also lets animators work out geometric figures of objects that move/change.

Extra facts On average, an animator will make a hundred frames a week, which is about 4 seconds screen time. As well as animate, animators will have to make storyboards, work with designers or directors, and meet with clients to ensure the animators know exactly what they want the project should end up like.

Conclusion I have found out a lot about this job, and I hope that anyone who’s interested in this job found it useful. I personally don’t think I want to do this job, as it seems to be quite tough.
